Liverpool vs Real Madrid UCL Betting Tips

Champions League Liverpool vs Real Madrid

What a game we have in store here. Officially the joint third most successful team (Liverpool) in the Champions League/European Cup ever, with 6 wins to their name, host the most successful team (Real Madrid) in the Champions League/European Cup ever, with 15 wins to their name.

Liverpool lead the way in this new look league phase with an emphatic 4 wins from 4 games, but Madrid are struggling a little with just 2 wins and 2 defeats from their 4 games so far.

It’s a similar tale domestically for Liverpool too, as they have began life under new manager Arne Slot in seriously impressive fashion as they sit top of the Premier League table, 8 points clear of second place Manchester City, who of course, have their own problems at the minute.

Madrid, meanwhile, lie 4 points behind Barcelona in La Liga, but do have a game in hand.

Their superstars, this latest batch of Galacticos have not really got firing on all cylinders this season, as of yet.

Match Betting Odds

(Please note all odds are correct at time of publishing)

Liverpool Evens (Ladbrokes)

Draw 14/5 (Coral)

Real Madrid 5/2 (Bet365)

This is a game that Real Madrid cannot afford to lose. They simply cannot. It would be unthinkable for the current European champions to lose 3 of the first 5 group stage games.

Liverpool could afford to lose and still qualify comfortably.

But we feel a draw would very much suit both teams here and as such we can see that as the most obvious outcome. Liverpool maintain their unbeaten run and a point against Madrid is never bad. Madrid take something, at least, back to Spain, to use as a building block for the last 3 group games.

Correct Score Market (Selected)

Liverpool 1-0 10/1 (BetFred)

Liverpool 2-0 11/1 (Bet365)

Liverpool 2-1 8/1 (Bet365)

Draw 0-0 16/1 (Bet365)

Draw 1-1 7/1 (BetFred)

Draw 2-2 11/1 (Bet365)

Real Madrid 1-0 14/1 (BetFred)

Real Madrid 2-0 20/1 (Bet365)

Real Madrid 2-1 11/1 (Bet65)

While we do fancy the draw, we also fancy some goals. Just look at the attacking talent in both teams and this really can’t be a 0-0, can it?! We think 1-1 is the most likely outcome here, but 2-2 is also catching our eye. With Madrid’s attacking prowess, but with their defensive problems, we could easily see this being a 2-2 thriller.

First Goalscorer (Selected)

Once again, it makes perfect sense to only place these bets at BetFred, because they double the odds if your first goalscorer grabs a second goal, and even treble the odds if they score a hat-trick.

Mo Salah 4/1

Kylian Mbappe 9/2

Darwin Nunez 5/1

Diogo Jota 5/1

Vinicius Junior 6/1

Luis Diaz 7/1

Cody Gakpo 7/1

Endrick 7/1

Rodrygo 9/1

Jude Bellingham 10/1

Arda Guler 11/1

Brahim Diaz 14/1

With Mo Salah in such red hot form, you can’t not pick him here. But Mbappe, Vini Jr, Rodrygo, they are all players who love the big stage and they could easily upset the apple cart by grabbing a goal or two.

Both Teams To Score

Yes 1/2 (Bet365)

No 6/4 (Ladbrokes)

We know it’s really, really short odds, but that’s because it seems so likely. And if a bet seems so likely, why not do it? £10 gets you £5 profit, £100 gets you £50 profit. And even at that short price, we feel this is such a cracking bet, we had to include it.

Score Draw

Bet Builder: Draw and BTTS 10/3 (Bet365)

We fancy both teams to score strongly but at best odds of 1/2 it makes it hard to back, unless you’re a big player, so this might be a better market to look at.

A Bet Builder at Bet365 consisting of a draw and both teams to score comes out at 10/3, and this covers you if the game ends 1-1, 2-2, etc, rather than covering several outcomes.

Team News

Liverpool will once again be without long term injury victims Harvey Elliott and Federico Chiesa.

For Madrid, David Alaba, Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao are all definitely out with long term injuries of their own. Rodrygo, Lucas Vazquez and Aurelien Tchouameni have all been out recently, but could be set to return at Anfield.
