PSG vs Arsenal Champions League Final Betting Tips

PSG vs Arsenal Champions League
We have a seriously interesting final to look forward to here, with two contrasting styles.

For pure entertainment value, the first leg of the Semi-Final between PSG and Bayern Munich (which ended 5-4 to PSG) was one of the greatest football spectacles you will ever witness. Two fantastic, attacking sides, both looking to score as many goals as possible. The second leg finished 1-1, but actually there were 7 more shots at goal and just as many shots on target in that game.

Compare that to the other Semi-Final games. Nobody expected classics when Atletico Madrid were drawn against Arsenal, and the 1-1 scoreline in Spain reflected that, before it was 1-0 to the Arsenal back in North London.

But Arsenal did used to be great entertainers under Mikel Arteta. He realised, though, to win trophies, you need that steel. He has channelled his inner George Graham to add to the things he has picked up from working with Pep Guardiola. It has led to a string of 1-0 wins this season (8 in the Premier League, 11 in all competitions), and their first Premier League title since 2004.

PSG have also won the French title, of course, for the twelfth time in the last fourteen seasons. It was only by 6 points this time, though, as opposed to the 19 points they won it by last term.

Match Betting Odds
(Please note all odds are correct at time of publishing)

PSG 13/10 (Bet365)
Draw 21/10 (Ladbrokes)
Arsenal 23/10 (BetFred)

Call us crazy, but we fancy Arsenal. We can just see a scenario where Arsenal successfully manage to stifle PSG’s attacking players. Arsenal have a great goalkeeper and possibly the best CB pairing in the world.

Before his drop off of form, they had a player in Zubimendi who could almost rival Rodri in midfield. If he plays and rediscovers his best form for the final, it will be huge for them.

They have Declan Rice who has had an excellent season. And they do have players capable of nicking a goal – and you can get at this PSG defence.

However, we aren’t sure Arsenal will do it over 90 minutes, so we are looking to the next market for our first bet.

To Lift The Trophy

PSG 4/6 (Bet365)
Arsenal 6/5 (Bet365)

Whilst we can definitely see a game where Arsenal soak up lots of pressure and hit PSG on the counter, grabbing another 1-0 win in the process, we can also see a situation where it goes to extra time or even penalties before Arsenal get the job done.

Obviously, PSG are favourites to win this trophy, so be careful with your staking. But we just feel that now Arsenal have got that monkey off their backs with the first title win under Arteta, that will real fancy this. Their confidence will be sky high, they have a really strong squad and can make numerous changes from the bench, bringing on other really good players who can make a difference if needed.

To get a team to lift the trophy at odds of 6/5 will do for us.

Again, we don’t fancy a classic here. We can just see a game played in hot conditions in Budapest (estimated to be around 28 degrees, currently), where Arsenal are more concerned with stopping PSG from playing football, and scoring.

Even attacking teams like PSG often play more restrained in finals (although that statement might sound absurd since they won 5-0 last year!), probably due to the fear factor of conceding and losing the game.

Leaving last year’s final aside, look at the results in the six finals preceding that:

2018/19 Liverpool 2-0 Tottenham
2019/20 Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG
2020/21 Chelsea 1-0 Man City
2021/22 Real Madrid 1-0 Liverpool
2022/23 Man City 1-0 Inter Milan
2023/24 Real Madrid 2-0 Borussia Dortmund

These results prove what we are saying, and show that on the overall balance, a bet on Under 2.5 goals at 4/5 with Bet365 is the smart play.

We aren’t actually going to select a first goalscorer bet here, but what we will say is, we won’t be surprised for it to come from a setpiece, so you could turn to big defenders getting a goal from a corner, or direct freekick takers.

Team News

In a huge boost for Arsenal, Achraf Hakimi looks like he will miss out on the final for PSG, through injury, while Ousmane Dembele is also struggling to be fit in time to start.

As of today, Arsenal only have Ben White missing the game through a knee injury.
